Just figured Captain Jacob Keyes from the Halo series is voiced by Pete Stacker, the guy who did the voice acting for Griffin in Oni as well.
It seems like there are quite a few resemblances between the games, but I guess it's because they were developed at about the same time? Anybody else found something that connects the two games?

"Blam! Love, little sister."
Although "blam" was a Bungie saying before it was a code name for Halo.

Well, there is also the main protagonist who doesn't really know their own identity, but that's a bit of a stretch since it's basically nothing more than a footnote in Halo.

I suppose the obvious one is ONI in Halo ^_^

What about the UNSC? Seems quite similar to the WCG really.

Unfortunately, I don't actually know anything about Halo, so I can't say ![]()

I think that was one thing about Bungie that was interesting. All their games until Halo cross referenced. There are references to Pathways in Marathon, same with Myth having very vague references to Marathon and Pathways, Oni has the least amount of references, but still has some, like names of things, and such. Halo still had some references to older games, but Halo 2 and on stopped it, due to them not owning the series anymore.

Halo was practically a reboot of Marathon anyway, so the point is moot.
And on another thing, there is still reused content from Oni in the Halo series, even some still reused all the way into Halo 4. Just a little tidbit.

Huh? Do you mean sound effects?

Nope, there's outright still animations from Oni in Halo 4 that Halo has been reusing since the beginning.
Sound-wise there's absolutely nothing reused from any previous game.

Hmm, strange. Is Steve Abeyta credited for any work on Halo?

I'll have to check, but it's likely.
Yep, worked on Halo: CE and Halo 2
After that I assume most of his work got recycled from that point on since it was in Bungie's asset database at that point. No point in reinventing the wheel or fixing what isn't broken after that point.
I'll have to check if he made the infamous "Arm flailing death" animation that's been in every single Halo game while I'm at it. I don't think that one was in Oni, since there's no traditional grenades or explosives in Oni to warrant such an animation.

Interesting. Certainly some of his work could have been flat-out reused, but looking at his work history, it appears that he was also one of the guys who moved to Redmond when Bungie was acquired, and worked under MS for a couple years, so he would have worked directly on at least one Halo.

The difference is that Shinatama was based off a copy of Konoko's mind.
Cortana was a copy of a different character other than Sierra-117 who is pretty much the definition of "Mad/Evil scientist" ()

Well im not sure if it can be heard in Halo, but I've heard the sound effect that plays upon activating a console in quite a few places. Then again I'm also not sure if that sound effect was first used in Oni or if they obtained it from somewhere else.

I'm pretty sure that Oni (and other Bungie games back in the day) made use of "stock" effects since they were on a limited budget.
