Can you create characters and edit textures from oni using XSI Mod Tool 7.5(latest version)? If yes can you help me because I might try to model some characters like Samer does and edit them.

Here is a collection of tips on using XSI:
Also, a link to all the tutorials on this site:
And yes, Samer needs to make a tutorial on how to create a custom character from start to finish ![]()

Thank Edt! Do you know how to edit already made characters in oni using gimp. I mean how do you have them up in gimp.

It is more complicated... There are several files for a character, for example the 3d model and the textures. You cannot edit models with Gimp, but you can edit textures with it. For models, you use XSI Tools.

Yes thats what i mean but i need to have them in gimp first how do i do that

You have to use OniSplit to extract the textures to a folder, edit them, and convert them back into Oni (usually with a package).
You can use the "-extract:png <target directory> <filenames>" command in OniSplit to extract the textures to PNGs or "-extract:tga <target directory> <filenames>" to extract them to TGA. <target directory> is where you want to extract the textures to, and <filenames> is the path to level0_Final.dat, in your case.

Those were the steps
You use the -extract:png or :tga command on level0_final.dat, and blam! you have a folder of textures.

i didn't understand what lukas said either
i still don't how to use commands directly in onisplit. so yes use the gui edt gave u .. u'll just select the texture and click convert.
well about the tutorial the intent is there and i actually started on it
but it won't be done anytime soon.
but meanwhile onirulez you can learn a lot by reading the topics here ... example as i was making my characters i had a lot of questions, asked and answered, and a lot of stuff i figured out in my own which i wrote so check the characters discussion threads..
also u'll find a lot of info on the wiki ... that's how i learned.
for example this is a great tutorial with examples and step to step details, better than i could ever write :
You just need to have the patience to actually read through them ![]()

the target directory : where do u want to put the textures after they are converted
...
&
onirulez the best advice i can give u is to experiment .. read about what we have made and try to do soemthing similar ...
example for now convert this file ...\Edition\GameDataFolder\level0_Final\TRBSk4_K_body_high.oni to dae ... using the 3d tab in the onisplit gui ... then drag and drop the dae u get to XSI .. this is konoko's model ...
convert another TRBS .. like the fury's ...\Edition\GameDataFolder\level0_Final\TRBSRed1_body_high.oni to dae ...
drag and drop this into xsi as well .. this is the fury's model ... click on the different parts in xsi to know what each is ... try to get the fury's head on konoko's body ...
you have to read about that in the thread Edt gave u which i quoted.
another example :
convert this file
...\Edition\install\packages\24000SeveredTextures\oni\level0_Final\TXMPIteration001%2Fk4_head.oni to tga using the textures tab in the onisplit gui ... open the resulting file with Gimp or photoshop .. this is knoko's face texture that comes in the severed texture package.
kinda irrelevant question .. but how old are u onirulez ?

Sorry, I should have explained that in a few more lines, I think... ![]()
But yes, experimenting is essential. One day, it is likely that you'll have to do something nobody ever tried to do before.

@onirulez:
The only thing that makes you appear stupid is you consistently calling yourself stupid and *not* the fact that you sometimes ask questions to which you could find the answers yourself by reading a bit.
I think changing this attitude would help you a lot already

See what the console (the black box) says. It should appear even if you are using the GUI.

I did the commands and still no files in the target directory.
Sorry Lukas Kreator but which black box.
