Edition ripping all the files from the CD onto the Hard Drive
*bzzz* CD is used only for installation. Game doesn't actually "need" CD. All that "security" is checking CD's name. If it is "ONI" then it's OK. But Daodan is supposed to fix that.

I don't really care for the Daodan specifics (or maybe I do ). The point is that I can successfully run Oni in Normal, Developer, and Edition modes, all without a CD.
I made a back-up of my Oni files onto my external hard drive, cleared my computer of the game, and re-installed it on a fresh run. No Edition, no mods, nothing. And of course, it won't run without the CD. But then, on my backup where I had Edition installed the original Oni 'GameDataFolder' (ignoring edition) has the broken down contents of each of the level files (character models, moves, etc). That version runs 110% without the CD. Therefore, my question is " What does Edition do so I no longer need the CD?".

Yeah, I pretty have as much as you. My computer, my brothers computer, a shared network hard drive, a backup disk, original disk, and I think I might have on thumbdrive somewhere?

I would probably explode into a thousand pieces, reassemble myself, and then implode.

I had like 5 retail versions of oni. I broke all 5 and started crying for more than 10 mins. Then I was quiet calm and went onto ebay and brought another copy and that copy is the one I play with nowadays.

It stopped working on my computer some years back. I bought the PS2 version, which inspired me to get the computer version working again.

In this forum pirating is very heavily frowned upon. The consequences used to be much worse, and would have been for oxe had he posted a download link.

OK though rule 2 says links and asking for them, (so maybe it should be clarified more that even mentioning them is not allowed ... for new comers ^_^.)

I'm pretty sure most people don't actually bother reading forum rules... anyways, last post on the subject, suggest returning to topic at hand?
Anyways, if my Oni CD broke, I would glue it together, piece by piece, and MAKE it work!!
