Well, okay, I got the Daodan patch, the Anniversary Edition, and so on, so my Oni copy works again, but there's one more problem. The controls seem to be pretty unresponsive to me. That is, punches/kicks/shots have a tendency to not be registered (so it screws up my combos), mouse movement is fairly inconsistent (sometimes when I swing the mouse Konoko turns 90-ish degrees, while other times Konoko won't turn at all) It is *not* because of my computer since Oni usually runs at 250-ish fps for me at low settings (didn't bother yet to change them)
So, is there anyone who can help me out with this?
My rig:
Acer Aspire 7720G (yes, that's a laptop)
Intel Core 2 Duo T7100 (1.8 GHz)
NVidia GeForce 8400M GS
2GB DDR2-RAM

Thats exceedingly odd. Make sure you aren't running anything intensive in the background. Also, it is impossible for Oni to run at 250 fps. The way the game works, it locks at 60.

Oddly enough, I tried putting higher settings, and *most* of the problem seems to have disappeared. Still minor unresponsiveness from time to time (mouse movement is still not really consistent). And about that 250 fps, at least, that's what Fraps is telling me...

Hmm. I'm still thinking. Maybe Oni is running TOO fast.
Try draw_every_frame = 1 into the dev console.

Further explanation (not that I have ever heard of a copy of Oni running past 60...):
If the game runs much faster than 60 clicks, the mouse input data isn't updated fast enough.
Where did you get your copy? If that fixes it, can you possibly send me a copy of your Oni.exe?

Do you use Vista? Your problem sounds exactly like one I had. Try downloading updates for your graphics drivers and running Windows Update. That should clear up the problem.

@Gumby: Further experimentation seems to support your theory. I got it to run at lower than 60 fps, (according to Fraps) and then everything worked just fine.
By the way, I got my Oni.exe from here: http://rossy.oni2.net/files/daodan/
Oh and also, I can't seem to pop up the dev console. When I press ~ in developer mode, the camera does get fixed in one spot, but I can still move Konoko around.
@Rossy: I set it to download any possible update automatically, so that can't be it.

You are the second person to report that sort of bug, I think.
What happens if you press enter? Same effect?

Yep, same effect, pressing Enter again seems to fix the camera again.

Still doesn't seem to work.

I think your controls might be screwed up. I'll see about uploading a keyconfig.txt for you to try.

Have you got the latest graphics drivers, the drivers on Windows Update are usually an older version than the ones from Nvidia's site. You can get them from here:
http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
You could also try editing your 3D settings in the Nvidia Control Panel. I would recommend turning Triple Buffering and Vertical Sync on and off and seeing if that fixes it.
As for your devmode problem, I've noticed that the ~ key doesn't bind properly on my vista computer. Try binding the developers console to something else by adding the line "bind x to console" to your key_config file.

Thanks Rossy.
