I was listening to the soundtrack of Oni today and i noticed there is a song that features what sounds like insects chirping (crickets or something). Was it originally used for a level in the "Wilderness Preserves" that was deleted or something, or is it used somewhere else in the game, i think it is track 12 from the OST (my copy may not be the official one though).
Oh, and the music on the game is really damn good. Better then a lot of actual artists.

^__^ YEAH , Like it too.

Crickets chirping? really? Hmm, well I have the official soundtrack and track twelve for me is "Konoko Chase"
Hey Lastman, could you fire off a tracklist?
Thanks.

no tracklist, just music, hey does it have that rap song on the official OST??

If by rap you mean quotes over porn groove, yes, it is on the prom CD. Bonus track.

I have a little doubt here. This came up on the wiki the other day: http://wiki.oni2.net/Talk:Music/CD
There were 3 promotional tracks released here: http://rampancy.net/story/game/oni/3105 … _oni_music
Their names are "Dark Future", "Uncertain Past" and "No One Left To Trust", echoing an Oni tagline.
Harry mirrored the three of them here (FTP is dead now): http://oni.bungie.org/archives/mp3.html
Of those three only "No One Left To Trust" has made it to the MP3 section of the newer Oni Central:
http://web.archive.org/web/200512161605 … /mp3s.html
However, discussions on marathon.bungie.org indicate that "Dark Future" was just "Trailer" in disguise:
(open http://marathon.bungie.org/story/newmay-june00.html and search that page for "dark future")
It's quite likely that "Uncertain Past" was also "nothing new", so to say, maybe "Pursuit" in disguise.
Which would make "No One Left To Trust" the only exclusive track (together with the 2 remixes).
I would like to have a confirmation of that, by either an Oni Central old-timer or Harry himself.

Awesome music.
I don't really know where to purchase or download the music though.

Aren't the Mp3's all linked on the wiki page for the CD (and that geyser has already provided the links TO the said wiki page)?

@ DJ SEI-RYU: Yeah, you've obviously missed the link to the wiki up there. Booya.
@ everybody: So, no one can tell me more on "Dark Future" and "Uncertain Past"?

Hmmm... When "End Titles" ends there are mixed quotes... There's one of them: "Oh man! You gonna let me attack something." (...or somethig like that)
I've never heard it before in the game:/ Who said that?

Not all of those quotes are featured in Oni. Some of them are not even present in Oni's binary data.
Have you never wondered about "Behold... the future!" or "Whoops! Sorry about that, Konoko..."?

I thought that quote about the future was from Mutant Muro scene (I didn't play that mode for so long) and the other one was modified voice of Kerr . And so... every quote was fitting for the game except for that one I mentioned earlier.

"Behold... the future!" is an unused taunt sound. You never hear it in the original game, even if you do a taunt as Mutant Muro.
"Whoops! sorry about that, Konoko..." is a reference to Myth dwarves, and the voice actor is probably not the same as Kerr's.
I suspect the one you spotted is yet another reference to Marathon, along with "OK, OK, don't frog blast the vent core!"
I've always wanted to write down all of these quotes in the order in which they are mixed, on the wiki. Shall we do it now?

Isn't that the com-guy's taunt or the TCTF agent's taunt?

In case, I have already noted about this in "Frogblast Ventcore" thread yesterday so I already know.
Thanks anyways.

I will not swear to this right off the bat, but I am nearly positive that I have heard it in my version of the game on the final fight level (if I kill Griffin)... I will keep my ears open and report in if I happen to hear it again.
And yes, before anyone asks, mine is a store bought copy... It came in that pretty, pretty reflective metallic packaging (which I still have... somewhere) ^_^
As far as the music itself goes, it was one of the real gripping points for me. Too many games throw "music" in almost seemingly just for "filler" or "something to do". The worst travesty of music in games now, is where music is featured by "popular artists", just as a vehicle to push the tunes to stimulate record sales.
Oni had a "feel" and mood for each piece of music in every scene... it had a purpose, and I always thought that Power of Seven was just a little ahead of their time.
Fun fact: I have read something to the effect that the people who headed up Power of Seven were absorbed into Headspace/Beatnik Music. Were you aware that the company was started by and owned by none other than Thomas Dolby? ^_^

Gee... now I suppose I will have to force myself to play the whole game over again, just to see if I can find the use of the quote ~_^
(Leave logic out of this! ^_^)
